so i'm reading way too many books. i thought i might just post a few thoughts on some of them as i go along...
this book is sort of a study in the fruit of the spirit. i'm enjoying it cause it's practical. it starts with love - of course ;) Rick Warren writes that there are five steps the bible tells us we need to take to learn to love people - experiencing God's love is the first one:
Eph 3:17 - 19 and I pray that Christ will make his home in your hearts through faith. I pray that you may have your roots and foundation in love, so that you, together with all God's people, may have the power to understand how broad and long, how high and deep, is Christ's love. Yes, may you come to know his love---although it can never be fully known---and so be completely filled with the very nature of God.
we are to love others as Christ loves us. but in order to do that, we need to have an understanding of how awesome His love for us is. I believe this is a continual thing - because as the scripture says it can never be fully known and also because I believe as we change and grow we are better able to comprehend it.
It is very important to feel loved by God because generally, those that feel unloved find it hard to be loving. Particularly to those that are a little more difficult to love than others :)
I'm going to be using this scripture as one of my prayer points a little more deliberately this week. I'm also going to pray it for all of you who's blogs I read :)
Have an awesome time at church tomorrow...wish we could be there :(
