I knew this would happen...

Recently I went out for the nicest dinner with a whole bunch of women from my church. We had such a great time and I really hope we do it again :) at one stage during the night I was confessing my recently developed fabric obsession and comparing it to what happened to me with scrapbooking. I tried to avoid both. I used to just happily cross stitch and embroider and avoid everything else. Because I know what I'm like. I tend to obsess over new things! So here I am, wasting time when I should be working on school stuff, looking for a quilt to fulfill one of my goals this year - make a quilt...you know, like a 'real' one lol!

So here are some quilts that I like (only a very small sampling of what I like!) as I try to narrow it down to just one...and well, this will probably take me more than a year, cause after I FINALLY pick the pattern, then I have to choose the fabric...

This one is close to being my favourite. The fabric in the middle of each square is ruffled! LOVE IT! Love the blue and brown too.

But I love the flowers in this one! Of course I'd do it in a different colour ;)

So yeah...my latest obsessions - reading and 'trying to' quilt. Now I'll stop procrastinating and get some work done before I sample the naughty (choc pudding) treat Aaron has baking in the oven!! YAY!

what a week...

So last friday I posted the bbq disaster (I've since purchased a cover for it in the hopes that that might make a difference...?)

That seemed to mark the beginning of a week that continued in like fashion. I don't have pics of the oil-spill-scare-that-turned-out-to-be-seasol at Jeanette's house during the ladies morning tea but it was a good one for getting the heart rate up. It's just been one of 'those' weeks. Bit of fever/vomitting, bit of cold/flu, toddlers being toddlers and I start thinking the old familiar thoughts...'that's it, I'm going back to work full time!'

This happened when I was foolish enough to not strap the children into high chairs while I made an important phone call today.

My blessings are asleep and I am enjoying a few moments of peace and I wander in to look at my quilt top that I fought with earlier this week (lots of seam ripping and re-sewing - I should have known better this week!) and then I scream (with my mouth closed because there's no way on God's earth I wanna wake up those babes!)

Someone's been practising their cutting...I HAVE NO IDEA what I am going to do with that now :( and I'm so disappointed. But aside from being quite a shocker of a week, there have been a couple of really nice things - one in particular that I'll blog about soon.

God is good, and faithful. And His grace is sufficient for me in this season. It's when I fail to avail myself of that grace that I start to feel like I'm spiraling downward. But you know, I'm just really hoping next week will be better!

Finished!

Meet 'Oopsie'. He's the project I've been working on lately. He's an octopus and I confess I often spent more than 15min chunks working on him. It was challenging and fun. And proved that I could do sewing without hurting myself lol! He's moved on to his new home now :) and I'm already thinking about what to make next ;)

cranky mama

Man it bugs me when I finish praying (especially this morning) and then I get up and walk out of my room and the FIRST encounter i have with one of my children results in a 'cranky mama' outburst.

It especially bugged me this morning because I'm up to 1 Corinthians 13 in my bible...and I was particularly convicted by verses 4-7 which is really well known and not new to me, but you know how God just hits you with a scripture sometimes? Well, I got a good dose of conviction from this one this morning...

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

...not easily angered...mmm...not to mention the rest of it.

To change the topic, my shoulder/neck seems to be responding well to resting. Despite the fact that I'm being naughty and sewing a little something I've been dying to make (and kinda has a deadline for when it needs to be finished). I'll try and post a pic when I'm done :) which will be in a while cause I'm trying to make it in 15min chunks of time in an effort not to void all the 'resting' I'm doing lol.

Still researching the homeschool option...leaning towards not doing it now!! But that's why I'm researching and praying and really wanting to get God's leading on this one, cause it's not a small decision...

Better go do 15mins of sewing before the kids wake from their naps :)
Have an awesome friday - spring is on it's way!!! I see blossoms and daffodils despite the cranky weather. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Oh - duh! One of the main reasons I wanted to post today was cause I saw this embroidery and was so inspired!! It's amazing how a little inspiration can change you from never wanting to do embroidery again, to wanting to break out the sewing hoop right away lol.

Ella's new handbag and dress :)

Ella was a reluctant model for a pic in her new dress with her matching handbag (her 'baby' has a matching new dress too but I haven't got a pic of it yet). She kept running off and thought she was so funny ;)

So I hung the bag on the door to get a proper pic of it. I used this pattern, reduced to 70% to get a little girl size. I loved making it and will likely make a few more - especially while this wave of creativity is flowing ;) lol. Maybe I'll even make one for me!!
