About to head out to take Kai to the Dr and for his immunisations (he's on a catch up schedule so he's got some now and some more at the end of the month - then he's all caught up :)
He's been on antibiotics for a chest infection all this week so the Dr will need to make sure he's ok to have the immunisations today too.
WOW, this morning was very different from yesterday morning, and reminds me of why a routine and sticking to a schedule is so important to me. Since I'd gotten to bed late, I tried to have a 'little' sleep-in. Well, that threw both the boys out of whack (as indicated by their behaviour :(
So anyway...Dr said no prob with the immunisations so we're off...back later!
...added later...
I don't do well with needles for myself...so I'm pretty shockin when it comes to the kids having them :( but all went well regardless and Kai is almost all caught up.
Did some shopping at Aldi. I'm such a fan of aldi lol!
Earlier this morning, before Josh went to school, he brought something upstairs to show me. So I have a close look at what he's holding between his thumb and forefinger and it's a spider. Now I'm not terrified by spiders like I used to be (having plastic ones all over the place here you get used to not freaking out so much...) but I definitely have a healthy respect for them. So when my baby is holding one (it was alive too, by the way) I well...i freaked out. It landed on the floor and was 'dealt with' swiftly by me. Then I have a nice calm chat with Josh about how we don't pick them up etc despite the fact that my heart is still racing and I can't stop saying praise God that it didn't bite him.
Anyway
A much needed nap around 1.30ish while Kai is sleeping. Then off to get my licence renewed (ewww photo) drop off some dry cleaning for Aaron and do some last minute shopping. Pick up Josh from day care (like yesterday, he wants to keep playing. I'm so glad he enjoys it). Get home to Aaron cooking bbq for dinner (yes, he's wonderful) then spend time getting organised for tomorrow's party :)
Not many photo's taken today...feeling a bit slack in that area. Will put up what i do have tomorrow sometime.
Thanks to those who've left nice comments while I've been doing this 'week in the life' thing. If you're reading Ali's blog too, what she said about the things she loves about doing this is so true. It really does make you think so much more specifically about what you're doing with your time. Like I realise I haven't done ANY exercise (and likely won't). And have been thinking about that this week. It's also made me take more photo's - surprisingly I've hardly taken any lately. Only on 'special occasions'. I enjoy the focus on celebrating 'everyday moments' that this project has brought.
Oh yeah, yesterday i also got some stuff to help me put all this together in real life. I bought the lil davis vanderbilt chipboard album, and these flocked chipboard words (except mine say 'love', 'always', 'forever', 'family', 'moments', and 'our life') plus the matching ribbon. So basically I have no excuse not to get myself organised and put it together in the next couple of weeks ;)
I'll be seeing some of you guys tomorrow - yay!!!

a really tired couple of days...
u know when ur pregnant u sometimes have those random days of indescribable tiredness?...no matter how much sleep you've had? I'm not a fan of these type of days, especially when I have a busy week lol.
(I've added a collage of pics to tuesdays post too if ur interested)
Anyway...so I made it to work yesterday...
Wednesday 1.10.08
marked times tables tests and nearly fell asleep...like I mentioned - indescribably tired. Rang Aaron, went to bathroom, ate chocolate all in an attempt to wake up. Chatted with colleagues, relieved when they went on with their work so I could get on with mine ;) lol. we'd talk all day if we could!
PRAISE GOD - got second wind and marked a class set of listening tests. on a roll. lunch with colleagues. my wonderful mum brought me fresh ham salad sandwich and COKE :)
marked second class set of listening tests - WOO HOO. Only one set left. Realise my teaching partner had inadvertently taken them home with her...thankfully she's coming in for team meeting at 2pm and brings them with her. Team is gracious and doesn't mind if I mark and talk at same time. Get tests all marked!!!
Talk with teaching partner...tidy up...walk home and meet mum and boys half-way. So excited that I only have one set of SOSE tests to mark and all my test marking is finished!!
Spend some time with boys and Aaron. Thankfully mum has moved her cooking night to tonight this week so I grab my chance for a quick nap. Josh comes up and tells me dinner is ready. Pretends I'm the child and he's the parent - puts a pillow on me for a blanket and tells me to stay in bed and go to sleep or I'll get a smack...hmmmm...then stands at the foot of the bed waiting for me to go to sleep! lol! That's like the time he sat in a kids armchair at domayne and pretended to be daddy - leaned back and said, 'Where's my cup of tea?' which was just hilarious cause Aaron doesn't do that at all! And that's not how we put Josh to bed either :) but it was cute anyway!
Dinner is roast chicken and vegies - yummo :)
Put Kai to bed then Josh. Choose his 'news' for thursday at day care (so cute that they do news!!) He chooses a science book (the teacher in me is very proud). Read a book about saying thank you and pray with Josh before the long cuddle/kiss/patting/goodnight etc routine (which isn't that long, only a couple of minutes...but I'm falling asleep myself...)
Aaron has gone to HFG. I enlist mum's help marking the final set of SOSE tests. FREEDOM!!!
Have an early night.
Just a couple of photo's today: Josh finding playing with the blocks exhausting...
This is my 'prayer' chair. I just recently got the idea to ask Aaron to put one of these chairs upstairs next to my side of the bed. I feel very spoiled to have this space. I've read before that some people have 'prayer baskets' and that's where they keep their list of things they're praying for, reminders of people and other prayer things and they keep it with them when they're having their devotional time. Well my prayer basket is the bottom drawer of my bedside table. Very handy :) it's also very handy having my box of tissues nearby ;)

my attempt at recording tuesday for this day in the life thing...

Ok...so I still haven't decided if I want to go as detailed as Ali has in her album...but I'm gonna give it a try and see if I like it. (You don't have to read on...it's just for my records and prob pretty boring to everyone else!)
30.9.08 (as much as I can remember!)
1. Alarm goes off at 6am - I get up around 6.30
2. Josh has gone down to Nan as he had a tummy upset and subsequent 'accident' in his nappy (thankfully Nan dealt with it and Josh is now dressed for the day)
3. We all go in and greet Kai
4. Head downstairs and make peach & strawberry smoothie for me and the boys.
5. Josh drinks all his smoothie and then asks to share mine.
6. Josh's tummy upset results in 'accident' again on a much larger scale...with a little help from Nan again and some rubber gloves we deal with it again and move on
7. Put up the name of today/weather/number & colour of the day etc
8. As previously arranged, mum has the kids today so I can get lots of work done.
9. Shower and get ready to 'get lots of work done'. Phone immunisation line and bank. Update blog. Sort photo's from May-September into proper folders. Delete old emails. Basically procrastinate cause I don't want to go to work and deal with the mounds of marking waiting there
10. Go to pharmacy then to work.
11. Follow up emails at work. Chat to team members. Start to feel stressed about extra work that is piling up. Try to delegate. Doesn't work. Come up with a different plan :) feel much better.
12. Meeting at 4pm
13. Order pizza cause meeting went for a while and don't feel like cooking
14. Another appointment at 7pm. Don't get to eat before we leave. Kiss boys goodnight and head out.
15. Arrive home starving and eat pizza while watching TV (I NEVER DO THIS!!! And I think it's funny that the first time I've done it in like, years - I am actually blogging my whole day - typical!)
16. Catch up with Aaron. Talk about outcomes from meetings.
17. Come downstairs to get some work done and blog instead!!
WOW. Ok...mmm...that seems really intense. Still undecided. I think in a few years it'd be fun to look back at this 'week in the life...' and see what we (I) were doing...but wow...
monday's not very exciting photos :)
Ok, so I'm attempting to do 'a week in the life...' and here's what I got of yesterday (forgot the camera at jungle jammin of course :(
Lots of laundry - always lots of laundry on mondays (actually not just mondays...all the time now!)
Lots of laundry - always lots of laundry on mondays (actually not just mondays...all the time now!)
The best thing about spring/summer - hanging the clothes out on the line with no worries about whether they'll get dry or if I'll have to run out and get them in while it's raining.
not indicated in the photo's is of course jungle jammin, and how proud I was of Josh waiting patiently for his turn on the drums...and how helpful he is all the time (carrying a drum for the guy and opening the gate for him).
Then his ENT specialist appointment and again I was proud (and relieved) that he waited so nicely. reading books together (every single book they had in the waiting room!) and the fact that he was so polite when he bombarded the Dr with questions about his tools ('excuse me Dr'...so cute!) my disappointment that he has glue ear again and the Dr wants to put the grommets in again and also remove his adenoids :(
me spending ages on the computer and the phone chasing things up (sometimes you just have days like that...) being so grateful that both the boys had fantastic naps...and then racing to the shops with Josh to catch medicare and the post office at 4.50pm. He was SUCH a good boy - so delightful and we made it to both before they shut.
Buying the invitations for his 4th birthday party and making a list of people he wants to invite (while eating dinner at the table). Thinking it interesting that the list was all boys at first...my baby is growing up!
now for photos of tuesday :)
(edited to add...oh my goodness! Ali Edwards is OBVIOUSLY the pro of this project cause she has amazing photos of everyday life and way more detail...still deciding if I want mine to be like that or on a smaller scale. She's so impressive!)
