In my last post I mentioned how much I appreciate photos. This week I have appreciated them even more so as my grandmother passed away on Thursday 1.12.11.
It was quite sudden. I was on playground duty at work when it happened. Mum had taken my grandmother on her fortnightly shopping trip as she had been doing now for some time. They would always have fish and chips for lunch when they were done.
On this particular day my kids had been really well behaved at lunch with their GG (Great Grandmother), to the point where she commented on their good behaviour ;) then as they were heading to the carpark the kids were having a go on one of those ride things they have in malls, and Nonie (my grandmother) said she'd go on ahead and wait at the top of the travelator.
For whatever reason, Nonie decided to head down to the carpark on her own, and halfway down she collapsed. A precious young man named Lachlan who was standing behind her, caught her and gently laid her down. Mum then heard someone say that 'an old lady just collapsed' and took off to check on Nonie. It seems she had a heart attack, it was very sudden. The Drs, police and Westfield people were very quickly on the scene and took such good care of the whole situation. Our assistant pastor also came and stayed with mum until Aaron and I could get there (and his wife came and took my kids home with her - such a blessing!)
I was pretty shocked. I thought Nonie would be around forever. I think I still don't really believe she's gone. Maybe after the funeral it might feel more real…
I am thankful for the memories I have of our times together. She was a generous, hardworking woman and I am so grateful for all her input in my life xox

Kylee, I only really heard the details today. I am sorry for your (and your mums) loss...I know your grandmother has been involved in your life in a number of ways while you were growing up, so I hope good memories bring you comfort in the coming days.
