merimbula so far...

We're in Merimbula for a week at the moment, on a sort of holiday as we help out my uncle before his 50th birthday bash tomorrow night. It's been an interesting week.

We drove down sunday. Thankfully it was an uneventful and quick trip. Monday was going to be a quiet day since we had no plans and it was a public holiday. Aaron and I took Malakai shopping in the morning for our week's groceries. Towards the end he threw a common tantrum and tried to throw himself on the floor in Target. Aaron held onto his hand and he started to cry and say that his elbow hurt. We wandered around a little longer, trying to persuade him that he was ok. We even went across the road and got some red frogs from the lolly shop to help him 'get over it'. It was when he wouldn't take the frog with his left hand that we realised it might be a little more serious.

Off to Pambula hospital and 3hrs later mum and i returned home with a boy that refused to wear the sling they gave us. He'd had 3 x-rays and praise God his arm was not broken. They think it was a popped elbow, and the Dr thought it went in the first time he manipulated the arm. Altho it's a little hard to tell, especially since Malakai's crying didn't change and he still wouldn't use the arm.

Thankfully by mid-morning tuesday morning he was ok again, which was good cause we headed out to Potoroo Palace for the afternoon (despite the rain!). We got a quick look around before it started BUCKETING down, and then enjoying afternoon tea in the cafe while it poured down outside. We went on a train ride after that and then came home.

Wednesday was my 31st birthday. Unfortunately it dawned dark and dreary and poured ALL DAY. I went out for lunch with Aaron tho and we had a really nice time. After lunch I caught up with 3 old school friends too, and then had a big family dinner out that night. So despite the weather it was a really nice day.

Thursday we went out to my uncles place to help clean up before the party. Then mum and I checked out 'Oaklands', a nursery/cafe/giftshop in Pambula, as well as Toad Hall. Very NICE :) would've spent a bit of money at Oaklands if I'd had any!! lol Aaron took Josh fishing that afternoon despite the feral weather and i managed to escape while the babies were sleeping for a bit of a wander around Merimbula for a while.

While I was enjoying a lovely little boutique after spending quite a bit of time checking out a unique (but unfortunately, VERY expensive) toy shop, mum rings and asks me to come straight back to the holiday unit. Ella's hurt herself she says, and will tell me more when I get here...

I walked into the unit to my princess with blood coming from a cut in her forehead :( she'd bonked her head on a sharp triangular toy block and cut herself.

So...another hour and a half at Pambula hospital (thankfully with a completely different staff so that they didn't think I abused my children or neglected them or something!)and she has a glued head and a nice little bruise. Poor darling (and poor mum, who was looking after her at the time and felt awful).

Aaron and I went out last night for a quiet dinner together while the kids were asleep back at the unit with my mum and grandma. We went to a thai place in Merimbula and it was delicious!!! SOOO good. We had a really nice time and thankfully nothing dramatic happened while we were out ;)

This morning the kids and I went to an old school friend's place to catch up and let the kids play and ride on the 4 wheeler bikes. Her 5 yr old daughter took Josh on a spin down to the mail box (they live on a property about 15-20mins from where we're staying) and back, then took Kai as well. It was SO COOL. The boys were in heaven. When we went to check out the Pambula river that runs thru their property of course Malakai fell in and got all wet. Thankfully I'm used to these things and had a complete change of clothes for both boys so it was no drama (and he didn't drown either so that made it all less dramatic too). Another friend was there also with her gorgeous little girl who is the same age as ella. So it's been a great time of catching up and seeing everyone's kids again. And I was hugely relieved that nothing happened to cause another visit to Pambula hospital!

This afternoon has been the most relaxing of all. The babies slept cause they were worn out from our adventure this morning. Josh considerately played very quietly on the floor when it was raining and kicked a ball around on the grass outside the unit when it wasn't, and I got to read a book all afternoon!!! HOW NICE IS THAT?!

It has definitely been the most adventurous and noteworthy holiday I've ever had :) the weather has not been friendly at all which is pretty disappointing cause we're really close to the beach and a nice park for the kids. But really, it's been pretty cool despite all the drama, and I'm glad we're here. Tomorrow night is my uncles' party and then we travel home sundayafternoon.

Yikes this has been a long post...sorry!! The internet is slower than dial-up here so I've actually been offline pretty much all week. I've loved it and might have to adopt it as a new lifestyle - seriously!

Hope everyone else is having a good week. I can't believe there's only 1 more term and Josh will be finished preschool - I'M NOT READY!! He turns 5 on the 20th and I've organised a macca's party for him cause it just seemed the easiest thing to do since I've been disorganised and left it til the last minute :( anyway, catch ya all later!!

Sounds very eventful!I guess that's the way with kids - can't be sure everything will run smoothly. I'm glad you guys had a good week away anyway ;)
