My 'baby' will be 7 in exactly one week. Over the past several months I have noticed a change in him. He's moving from one phase of childhood to the next-maturing. I'm proud of him. There have been some things he's been doing as we give him more freedom, because he's become characterized by making good choices. Of course he doesn't make perfect choices 100% of the time (who does?) but generally he is 'characterised' by good choices, so we can trust him with more responsibility.
He's been making breakfast for himself and his little brother and sister all this week (this may or may not have meant that Aaron and I have had a chance to sleep in a little) which may sound like a chore but actually he's really loved the chance to prove he could do it well. It's also helping him learn lessons about being grateful for what others do for you ;)
He also just came in from some outside play and told me about a time of prayer he'd had with Kai and Ella. He'd prayed about our family among other things, and then they'd all laid back on the grass and thought about God. I am so grateful to God, it's a precious reminder that we're not doing this alone, God is reaching after the hearts of our kids too, and He is faithful to answer our prayers for them.
